Karl W. Armstrong, Appeals Officer at State of Nevada Department of Administration, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Lawyers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in the field of legal appeals.
With a strong work ethic and a drive to never stop learning, Mr. Armstrong pursued an education at the University of Illinois at Chicago, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice in 1985. He went on to graduate with a Doctor of Jurisprudence from the College of Law at the University of Iowa in 1988. Mr. Armstrong is certified to practice law by the State Bar of Nevada, the U.S. District Court of Nevada, the Court of Appeals, the ninth circuit, and the Illinois State Courts. He began his career immediately after law school and worked as an assistant public defender in the Office of the Cook County Public Defender from 1988 to 1991. Between then and 2001, he took on the positions of a law clerk with the Eighth Judicial District Court, a deputy attorney general in the Office of the Attorney General, and an assistant general counsel for the University and Community College System of Nevada.
From 2001 to 2003, Mr. Armstrong excelled in the roles of an attorney/interim managing attorney for Karl Armstrong and Associates, Sharon Gwin Immerman & Associates, and the State Farm Staff Counsel Office. He then contributed as a contract attorney and senior counsel before taking on his current position as the appeals officer of the state of Nevada Department of Administration Hearings Division. Mr. Armstrong is also currently the commissioner of the Nevada Commission on Judicial Discipline, a member of the board of directors for Easter Seals, and an active member of the Black Law Students Association, the Las Vegas Chapter of the Nevada State Bar Association, the Nevada Bar Ethics Panel, and the Judicial Discipline Panel, among others. A BV Rated lawyer, Mr. Armstrong was also honored with the title, Outstanding Young Men of America, and given an Alumni Association Student Leadership Award.
